Birders
Related: About this forumWe secured the suet feeder for now...
It's us vs. raccoon or squirrel. I don't mind the squirrels so much if they just jump on it and eat. They can't get much unless they open it but when they knocked it down, it would open up and then it ruined it for the birds. One feeder was hauled away completely one time. I caught a raccoon eye balling it once but scared it away.
Now we've got it on a screw type carabiner from an eye hook with the feeder wired shut.
It's on!

(34,136 posts)If I leave them out the raccoons, opossums and deer will empty every one over night. During the day the squirrels get a run at them, but they don't eat as much as those other pests.

(72,300 posts)Thanks.
After the 1st repair, I learned to close the slider all the way at night. That saved my replacement screen. Keeping my fingers crossed because we have new windows and a new sliding glass door to enjoy this year.

(16,334 posts)when the raccoon pushed stuff off our cooler and opened it up, eating all of our breakfast food. We took them to a convenience store and let them buy packaged donuts and they thought it was the BEST CAMPING TRIP EVER!

(16,334 posts)but they could not get it open or off the hook! I can tell because there are some decorative leaves on each side that have been pulled away from the feeder.
