Little western screech owl seeking shelter from today's

afternoon thunderstorm. Unusual to see one in the owl box in our backyard this time of year. This box has seen four successful nesting seasons, usually January thru March, since we put it up in 2019.

somewhere above our block for the last 5 or 6 years. I've no idea if they're the same pair or not.

So far this year I've only heard two but some years three or four.

I love their distinctive calls to each other.
