Ran across this nesting heron!

High up in a sort of dead tree, overlooking the Tennessee River. I took the photo from a boat in the river. I have never really seen a nesting heron, much less photographed one. And yes, I do know to keep a distance. Oh, yeah, there was another heron right next to it in another nest! That one was not visible until I looked at the photos.

I saw five herons in that one tree. This was a few weeks ago. I have a photo but it isn't very good. There may have been some more hidden nests there. All I can say is that boat noise must not bother them, because this is on an island right at the entrance to a creek off the Tennessee River, that leads to a very busy boat dock.
