Please excuse my enthusiasm, but a friend wrote:

'Heard Osprey on Wye River today.' That's MARYLAND! The Wye River is a 16.3-mile-long tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

I usually see them (at my house, southern MD,) St. Pat's Day.

and I've watched the whole family-making process the past 4 years. LAST year an eagle attacked the nest, upon which the parents had been hibernating eggs, but there were no kids last year, due to the attack.

Eagles. They’re a blessing and a curse. Fingers crossed that the osprey will be successful this year...but...eagles have big brains and good memories. I hope those eagles have moved on. Fingers crossed.
