We have a pair near our house every winter/spring as we are very close to the Gulf of Mexico here in Florida. Each January the pair refurbs that nest with HUGE sticks, etc. They put a lot of work for weeks into it. Today one of the parents took a L O N G bath in the pond out back and when it flew away after the bath it got a bit airborne but then it does a kind of 'shake' of the wings/body to rid itself of all that water weight and then up it went. I have seen this many times but it never ceases to amaze. Enjoy your birds. Nice pic.

THIS/'my' nest is adjacent to my house, on a creek near a river, in southern MD, has been here for MANY years.

I've seen one osprey bathing in the creek once or twice, in the summer; when kids arrive (maybe 1 month) I'll see adults feeding them.
