Just read about this: 'Each parent has a brood patch, which is a featherless area on the breast that is filled with surface blood vessels which are used to heat the egg during incubation. When an incubating parent sits on the eggs, the skin muscles open up the brood patch. Then the parent wiggles its body back and forth to make best contact with the egg.'
