1. Beautiful photos! I have a lot of finches, and they turned up their noses at it! They much prefer

the millet blend I have for the songbirds, and the seed block. The thistle seed just sat there until I finally emptied it out over an open spot for whoever might be less picky.

What's your most unique bird visitor?

Mine was a pin-tailed whydah! It's been here several times now. I was so excited!

Greenish bird. It just stopped here for a few minutes and I had to look it up but I got a shot of it.
Really the rarest was this Rufus hummingbird that showed up in the late fall of 2016. They don’t belong here in Delaware at all. You can imagine how it helped my despondency over the election. He stuck around for a couple of weeks I had to keep refilling the feeders that were freezing

3. Beautiful! I've never seen one like that. Here's a photo of the pin-tailed whydah, also not native

It's originally from Southern Africa.

5. It's a stock photo, mine aren't as clear. I live in San Diego, and that bird is as small as a finch

so to see it with the finches, but with that bright beak and incredible tail feathers, was one of my most exciting days watching birds.

6. San Diego must be a good place for birds. I know what you mean about being excited

That red beak! I get excited over the bluebirds I’ve been seeing out back. It’s funny because the robins have been pushing them around,I think they’re from the same family

12. Well I've never seen a cardinal here, so if you see cardinals regularly, you're already beyond me :)

They're on my bucket list.

But we do have flocks of wild parrots! They're the descendants of escaped/released parrots, they're not native here either. Otherwise have the usual songbirds, nothing too out of the ordinary. I've seen the random roadrunner, they're a lot of fun to see.

13. They do! And those tails flutter in the breeze, haha. Only breeding males have them.

I've seen them on the ground eating seeds and then flying up to the power line. So fun.

I never have luck with finch food. The only one they seem to like is the seed-sock which the chipmunks devour!

16. Thanks. I'd like to put out sunflower seeds but I'm on the second floor deck, the squirrels

Drive the neighbors crazy. I may sneak some in before the season is over. Squirrels are relentless little rodents.
