I just spent an extra long birding weekend in south Florida. I mostly visited Everglades National Park and the Keys.
The following birds were photographed at Everglades National Park:
This young Barred Owl was easy to photograph since it hadn't yet learn to fear humans:

I finally got some good pictures of Swallow-tailed Kite. I saw it flying over a field in Flamingo in far southern Everglades National Park:

White-crowned Pigeons were easy to find in flight in Flamingo in far southern Everglades National Park, but they weren't approachable:

The following birds were photographed in the Keys:
The best place that I know of to get Roseate Terns is on and around the Government Building in Marathon, Florida. Marathon is 1/2 way across the Florida Keys. I photographed this Roseate Tern behind the Government Building:

These miniature White-tailed Deer (the size of a dog) live on just a couple of the Keys, including No Name Key:

And the best place to get Cave Swallows in Florida is in Cutler Ridge in south Florida. A colony nests under a bridge across a canal:

(3,829 posts)The great thing about cameras these days is you can take a lot of pictures quickly and there's a good chance that some might be decent.

(18,219 posts)I remember all the film that I wasted, including the processing of it, for photos that sucked. You were more careful about whether you bothered. Birds in flight----forget about it. I never was able to catch one in frame, by the time I found it and clicked, it had moved on.
