HALO - Jumping into the franchise as a total n00b

I know, I know, we're already up to Halo 4 at this point, but I just got an Xbox 360 for Christmas, and I have heard nothing but praise for the Bungie/343 series, so I figured I'd start with the "Anniversary Edition" of Halo: Combat Evolved.

Not looking for spoilers (or trying to share any), but so far this game has blow my mind. Gorgeous sunsets over rippling waves on a sandy beach. Hordes of spastic "grunts" trying to kill you, and usually doing a bad job of it. Afterglow of a vanished civilization. Ominous murmurings of a "flood." This is an FPS? It plays more like a science fiction novel with a tip of the hat to Larry Niven.

Yes, I am hooked. Your thoughts?

I loved the first 3 but since I have no interest in multiplayer, the game kinda lose appeal (just like every other FPS after a while). Definitely did love the whole back story with the Covenant and Forerunners though.

I'll definitely get this when I can find it for less than 20 bucks.

"Hey, wouldn't it be super cool to have Master Chief dropped into an alternate campaign with zombies?"

I love zombie runs, too, but I've got Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for that.

As for multiplayer, I love it. For a long time, it was a tradition for my brother and I to go head-to-head on GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. Funny thing is, he just got too good with that grenade launcher.
