It marks the 33rd year he has rated the best of America's 650 public beaches.

1. Happy to see one of my local favorites, Coronado Beach. The Hotel Del in the background is so iconic

3. Duke Kahanammoku ----- 1937, my father was stationed in Hawaii. Duke K gave swimming tips and lesson

to military people he would meet on the beach. My father was one of the most graceful swimmers you would ever see in water. He was a part time, town lifeguard for ten years after the war. I recall watching him and saying to myself, I wish I could do that.


Funny thing, dancing or anything on land, he was awkward, In water, it was different.
