Gay priest to be stripped of duties at Vatican

Rome (CNN)A Polish priest who served with the Vatican's doctrinal arm will no longer be able to carry out his duties after announcing he is gay on the eve of a major Church meeting, a Vatican spokesman said.

With his partner at his side, Monsignor Krysztof Olaf Charamsa held a press conference Saturday in Rome, calling on Pope Francis to revise Catholic doctrine on homosexuality, which considers same-sex relationships sinful.

Charamsa, 43, said the timing of the announcement was intended to put the topic before the Synod of Bishops. The three-week assembly of bishops from around the world beginning Sunday will address issues facing Catholic families.

Ah, nothing says tolerance and compassion as well as "you're fired".

One of the main things the church needs to discard is celibacy.

And you can get the fuck off your self-built high horse.

You haven't the slightest clue as to what I do or know or don't do or don't know.

Other that I am a Catholic.

Which is all you need to build your playground sand castles of bigotry.

I will tell you this: Talking bigotry out of the side of your mouth by calling active Catholics bigots reduces the legitimate human rights struggle that is taking place, affecting millions of real people, to no more than internet gamesmanship.

You have zero credibility to attempt to lecture anyone on human rights, "Lord".

I asked a simple question and you refused, I even made it simpler and you still refused.

My point was that the last three letters mean Queer (Or questioning, depending on who you ask) Intersex and Asexual. My point is that you can be in a relationship with no sex if you're asexual. But you choose to die on the hill of refusing to answer a question about a subject that is very touchy right now.

Maybe you could show that you're more concerned about an oppressed minority than you are about the global corporation with "incalculable wealth" that is actively doing the oppressing.

I'll also add that you know nothing about me either, other than that I'm an atheist.

I am not endorsing the Catholic stand on homosexuality but I don't see how they could allow this priest to admit having to having a relationship when they don't allow any others to do so.

Personally, I think the church should rethink its stand on both homosexuality and the celibacy requirement for priests. And make a real stand against pedophile priests.

I guess noting the overt bigotry of the RCC is "pushing an agenda", the agenda in this case being "noting the overt bigotry of the RCC".

Or perhaps it is a secret agenda. You know, the secret gay agenda that I hear so much about from rightwing nut jobs. Maybe it is that agenda.

Priesthood.

A few years ago Father Alberto Cutie was famously caught with a (female) lover. I say famously because he was a celebrity and the tabloid magazines had a field day publishing pictures of him and his girlfriend frolicking at the beach. He was fired. He switched to the Anglican church and married.

Like I said, they all know they are required to be celibate before joining the Priesthood. If that's to though a requirement, then don't join . Nobody is forcing anyone to join.

that have been caught having sexually abused children.

To put it simply, as long as the person they fuck is below the age of consent, the Church apparently gave them a pass for a long time, and many parishes and dioceses still do, apparently.

Yet look at how quickly this priest was "disciplined", its a stark contrast, and shows an ugly double standard.
