Polish Vote Marks Resurgence of Conservative Catholic Values

http://www.voanews.com/content/polish-vote-marks-resurgence-of-conservative-catholic-values/3024671.html

WARSAW—Church attendance may be falling in Poland as elsewhere across Europe, but the victory of conservative opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party in Sunday's election will likely advance the role of Roman Catholic values in public life and government.

...

"In Poland, there is no value system that could realistically compete... with the teachings of the church," PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski said days before the election in an interview for Catholic broadcaster TV Trwam.

"If someone fights this system, then regardless of whether they are a believer or nor, they favor nihilism," said Kaczynski, twin brother of Poland's late president Lech and a regular churchgoer.

At stake could be already restrictive abortion laws – some PiS lawmakers including the party's PM candidate Beata Szydlo have in the past pushed to ban the procedure entirely.

The Labour party elected a left winger as leader, but that doesn't mean they'll get into power. What the UK did before that was elect a majority Tory government, which is more like "plunged into darkness". Most recent poll I can find:
Con 42%
Lab 29%
UKIP 13%
Lib Dem 7%
SNP 5%
Green 3%

trotsky's comment clearly favors the official state atheism in effect thirty years ago, which proved so repressive that it led to Solidarity's rise Walesa's rise five years later.

Are you so binary to think one is better than the other?

from a simple clear statement about how the RCC views women.
It's not clearly that at all.

wow,

you are actually agreeing with Kaczynski, Just wow!

It never fails to amaze me how many bodies people are willing to step over just for the chance to attempt an attack on religion.

doesn't mean he prefers the communist era or anything like that. You show a very dishonest and poor attempt at deflection.

The choices are not limited to "communist dictatorship" or "rightwing religious authoritarianism". Poland has had several progressive liberal secular governments since the fall of communism. The choice rug presents are massively dishonest, as usual.

board for the sole purpose of trying to discredit them.

Lying and saying "The other side does it!" is not only grossly immature but also incorrect.

How low will you go?
