Related: About this forumSupreme Court Justice Scalia: Constitution says government can favor religion
http://www.religionnews.com/2016/01/04/supreme-court-justice-scalia-constitution-says-government-can-favor-religion/(RNS) Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is never shy about voicing his strong, and strongly conservative, opinions about the role of religion in American society, and he has once again made headlines with what he called a sermon in which he said the U.S. Constitution can favor religion over nonreligion.
In fact, Scalia told a gathering at a Catholic high school near New Orleans on Saturday (Jan. 2), one of the reasons God has been good to us is that we have done him honor.
Unlike the other countries of the world that do not even invoke his name, we do him honor. In presidential addresses, in Thanksgiving proclamations and in many other ways, he said in a brief talk at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metarie, according to various news reports.
There is nothing wrong with that, and do not let anybody tell you that there is anything wrong with that, added Scalia, a Catholic.

As long as it's his religion, I guess.

...starts talking about the revered tradition of tossing virgins into a volcano.

It suggests a suspension of reason, a bowing subservience to a myth, which is not a logical or healthy thing to do, especially by those in positions of power. Crazy shit can follow.
Yes, I understand that "the masses" like it when leaders say stuff like "God Bless America", but to me, it signifies either a dangerous failure of reasoning or an attempt to pander to the masses. Neither is good.

Although the Catholic church he supports has obviously had a lot of issues over the decades/centuries.
Including Priesthood pedophiles.
Fact is, that SCOTUS "Justice" is simply a WingNut with a judicial robe, and he's finally decided to start revealing his motives.
My Guess?
I'm supposing he supports whatever Corporate America approves of, and Religion is closely connected by involved $, mutual interests. Money makes his world go round
Thanks.
