5 March 2016 Middle East
Pope Francis has condemned the killing of 16 people, including four Catholic nuns, at an old people's home in Yemen.
He called Friday's gun attack in Aden an "act of senseless and diabolical violence".
Reports said the attackers pretended they were visiting their mothers to gain access to the home.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though Yemeni officials have blamed so-called Islamic State.
In a statement, the Vatican said two of the nuns killed were Rwandan, one was Indian and one was from Kenya.

We usually call that variety of bomb "bullets," to distinguish them from hand-thrown bombs, bombs dropped from airplanes, and bombs that we release into toilets.
The most common gun used in this kind of conflict are AKs. The US neither invented or spread the AKs around the world. For that, we had liberation movements (etc.) supplied by the USSR, with AK knockoffs being made by other horribly capitalist countries like N. Korea, China, Vietnam, and some East European countries. The AK is a damned handy bit of technology. And Russia continues to upgrade AKs to enhance their lethality. I'm pretty sure I read that the most recent variety, not for export outside of Russia (but nonetheless widely found in the Donbas), can be equipped with a grenade launcher.

The US is the single largest exporter of arms. Denominated in dollars. However, much Russian equipment is cheaper, so while they're usually #2 (on occasion #1), we make a special point of making sure we don't look at units or consider purchasing parity power (PPP) for arms purchases. Otherwise we may not be able to assume all the world's guilt and thereby grant absolution.
