CNN personality Reza Aslan causes controversy by eating human brains with members of Hindu sect

It seems like sensational television. Tulsi Gabbard, who is Hindu, said she's concerned that this is going to lead to people thinking the worst of her religion, despite this episode representing only about 100 practitioners.

Religious scholar and television host Reza Aslan is facing backlash after he ate part of a cooked human brain with a Hindu sect as part of his new CNN show.

Aslan, 44, is accused of mocking Hinduism — a religion approximately a billion people worldwide practice — after featuring a fringe, cannibalistic sect of the faith on his new show, Believer, a six-episode “spiritual adventures series” in which he explores the “world’s most fascinating faith-based groups.”

“Want to know what a dead guy’s brain tastes like? Charcoal,” Aslan wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday. “It was burnt to a crisp! #Believer.”

In a recently aired episode, Aslan sat with the Aghoris of India. The small sect worships Shiva, the Hindu God of Destruction, and have been known to eat feces, drink out of human skulls, eat human flesh and smear themselves with the ashes of corpses, CNN reports. The secretive sect is generally opposed by mainstream Hindus.

My brush with CJD was a recent cornea transplant patient. Passed away 2.5 wks post transplant. Chew on that thought.

Organ donation not a regulated enterprise before our current administration (if we can call it that) imagine the hazards posts deregulation era.

Pending...

EO for mandatory sale of organs for debt reduction by the incarcerated or the detained while in jail....?

Nothing surprises me anymore. Stupid people especially. One way to get brains, I guess, unlikely to increase IQ or add wisdom. At least there's evidence of thought, albeit misguided and what I cal magical thought.

1 - Reza Aslan, self-knighted champion of believers everywhere, exploited Hinduism to make a buck in the worst Hollywood sort of way (think the dinner scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom).

2 - Reza Aslan ate some dead guy's brain.

One of these is kind of important. The other is not. Which one will be talked about?
