Pope Francis casts doubt on Virgin Mary apparitions at Bosnian pilgrimage site

Pope Francis on Saturday expressed serious doubts regarding reported daily apparitions of the Virgin at Medjugorje in Bosnia, a site which attracts a million pilgrims annually.

In June 1981, six Bosnian children and teenagers said they had witnessed the appearance of the Virgin in the southern town, and allege she continues to visit to this day.

The woman they saw “is not the mother of Jesus,” the Pope said Saturday aboard the papal plane on his return from a trip to Portugal, where he canonised two young shepherds who had visions of the Virgin 100 years ago.

The Pope said an investigation under way by the Church had thrown up doubts regarding the Medjugorje apparitions.

The remarks are likely to make waves in Bosnia, where Catholics make up about 10% of the population and the religious tourism at Medjugorje brings money into the poor Balkan country.

If she was going to do any good.. she'd appear in Congress with all of C-SPAN to view.

The two situations are practically identical. The only difference is the ethnicity of the players. The Fatima kids are Hispanic and speak Spanish, just like Frank. The other kids are Slavic and speak a tongue foreign to Frank.

This bigotry goes hand in hand with Frank's homophobia. That's how bigots operate. They can't hate just one.

There is no Slavic or Portuguese "race" (excluding Himmler's views).

They are far from identical. One reason the Vatican has not approved Medgujore is that some are still claiming daily apparitions and messages, causing the pope to remark, in paraphrase, that Mary is not a mailman.

I said nothing about race. Add ethnicity to words you don't know the meaning of.

And another thing. Funny how your ineffable god can make Mary appear before some kids but can't even show his own face to adults.

At this point I'll give credence to a report of Mary juggling baboons on the observation deck of the Empire State Building over a post of yours.

No, really. I'm sure there's a really excellent reason why a kids from 1917 who claimed to get secret messages from a dead lady are more trustworthy than kids from 1981 who claimed to get secret messages from the same dead lady.
