Did Jesus have sex?

The last episode of AMC's Preacher started with a bawdy, funny scene of Jesus having sex.

Made me think, wasn't the point of God coming to Earth as Jesus to experience life as a human?

Can one really have the human experience without sex?

I won get into an omniscient being needing to experience something to understand it, nor how a immortal being suffering for a few days a big sacrifice.

I reject that premise as I reject your premise that sexuality is an inherent expression of humanism.

There are *far* more expressions of humanism than sexuality that are specific to humans. Plenty of animals have sex, and the aren't human. Jesus, by having sex, is just as likely to be experiencing what it's like to be a dolphin, or a great ape, or a rat as he is experiencing what it's like to be a human.

For humans, death is permanent. It isn't really much of sacrifice to go be dead for a couple of days, come back and hang out with your friends for awhile, and then go to heaven to be at the right hand of god. A human who sacrifices his life to save others has really lost something that can never be given back. It isn't the same thing at all.

There's a scene in an early chapter where the boy Jesus is playing with his younger brother and his best friend, Biff. They toyed with a small salamander and while laughing, the little brother smashed it with a rock. Jesus waved his hand over it, bringing it back to life. The little brother laughed and then smashed it again. After several repetitions of this, Biff said, "I'd like to be able to do that." Jesus answered, "Which part?"

The whole book is smart, historically accurate and fascinatingly conceived. It's also hysterically funny. Mr. Moore also wrote another similar book called "The Stupidest Angel" which I recommend after "Lamb."

I so enjoyed Lamb. I was educated for 12 years in Catholic school and the Jesus I was taught was love. Lamb was a good reminder of that Jesus. I went to a luncheon of my old catholic school and one of the nuns who taught me said that was her favorite book.

He and I had numerous conversations about the complexities of faith. He pointed out that Jesus was probably a pretty funny, charismatic guy. Otherwise, why would fishermen, carpenters and shepherds-- all tough men-- follow him?

People who have sex and people who don't have sex are people. Their goodness or badness is not based solely upon their sexuality. There are good people who have sex. There are bad people who have sex. There are good people who are asexual or celibate. There are bad people who are asexual or celibate.

Jesus' goodness is not inherent to his sexuality.

Last Temptation of Christ came out. I did not see it myself, but read about the fall out.

Christ has a fantasy or actual sex sometime during the movie. May have been while he was being crucified.

Anyway, as you might imagine the fundie right came unglued. You would have thought their beliefs and faith had collapsed they squealed and ranted and protested. Of course they were just trying to make no one saw what offended them. usual conservative SOP.
