Good news: Clergy marching for racial justice

From the article:

From Protestant preachers to Jewish cantors to Catholic nuns, clergy of a range of faiths demonstrated in the nation’s capital for racial justice, criticizing the silence of some within their own ranks on the subject of white supremacy and questioning the morality of Trump administration policies.

Good news: Clergy marching for racial justice (Original Post) guillaumeb Aug 2017 OP
Last week you posted an article about it being 4000. Now it's only 3000? AtheistCrusader Aug 2017 #1
I did post it as good news. eom guillaumeb Aug 2017 #2
Sadly the turnout is shrinking faster than the prevalence of religion overall. AtheistCrusader Aug 2017 #8

Miss the Women's march in January? 3 million+ protestors. AtheistCrusader Aug 2017 #14

And that's different from your attempt to turn a molehill into a mountain how, exactly? AtheistCrusader Aug 2017 #18
Do you think that any social movement started as a huge wave? guillaumeb Aug 2017 #19
You think the the racial justice movement is starting now, in 2017? Mariana Aug 2017 #20
Not my point at all, nor was it my contention. eom guillaumeb Aug 2017 #21
Then why are you talking about how social movements start Mariana Aug 2017 #22
Because most movements start off quite small. guillaumeb Aug 2017 #23

Did you ever figure out what percentage of faith leaders in the US this group represents?

Because based on the original post, I clearly over-estimated their impact by about 25%.

Given that the vast majority of Americans do not march or protest or organize for or against anything.

Hardly meaningless.

Doesn't fit your narrative though. (1% vs. 0.2% if I remember the earlier numbers correctly HINT: ONE OF THESE IS A WHOLE NUMBER)

46% of American registered voters could not be bothered to even vote in 2016. THAT is a meaningful number. Your focus on exactly what percent of ministers will march is, in my view, a search for a way to turn positive news into negative news.

You're pretending it's a positive indicator, when it's not even statistical noise.

There have also been many preaching prejudice and racism. So, what are we to take from this, do you think?

And that some people will use many methods to divide other people. A Marxist might speak of the class struggle, and how racism and nationalism are used by the Capitalists to divide workers.

Others might appeal to heritage, or to a common culture, or a common belief, or whatever they feel will motivate their followers.

Why do you feel the need to single out and celebrate one small group of people when there are millions more, religious AND non-religious, who have opposed Trump and white supremacy all along?

this is the Religion (Group) and this group is open to both negative and positive pieces. I realize that some here focus exclusively on the negative aspects of religion, and believers, but others attempt to present a more nuanced view.

Yes, people can post whatever they want here regardless of what you think! I'm so glad you've come around!

Now if you could just refrain from making personal judgments with words like "nuanced," implying that people you disagree with are just too binary or simple to appreciate your perfect position, that would be a truly amazing thing indeed.

Keep working at it, dude! You might get there someday!
