Ten Commandments monument attracts Texas shoppers, not protesters

https://religionnews.com/2018/01/03/ten-commandments-monument-attracts-texas-shoppers-not-protesters/

Ten Commandment monuments erected in Alabama, Oklahoma and New Mexico have brought lawsuits and removals.

But when an 800-pound granite tablet engraved with “Thou shalts” and “Thou shalt nots” went up in a suburban Dallas shopping mall just before New Year’s, not a protester was in sight.

The difference, of course, is location, location, location. The controversial tablets were originally placed on public land, while the Texas tablets are in a privately owned shopping mall.

“We’re not trying to make a statement or create a controversy,” Richard Morton, general manager of the Music City Mall at Vista Ridge, told Texas reporters Friday (Dec. 29) as the block was unveiled. Instead, he said, the monument reflects the mall owner’s “belief system and he is not afraid to share it.”

Wow, what a brave, brave wealthy man. Taking such a daring stand! Those poor, persecuted Christians now have a hero.

That was kind of the idea all along.

I'm a fierce church-state separationist (and a bile-spewing religion hater, according to some poor persecuted Christians!), but I am 100% supportive of the right of this rich old religious bigot shoving his beliefs in front of everyone... on his private property.

Lol, we are not trying to make a statement, but our purpose is to make a statement.

There is no doubt the Ten Commandments makes an impact. It drives atheists over the edge---yet it is the basis for the legal system in America, the most free, prosperous, blessed and exceptional nation in the history of the world, even though secularists claim the Commandments are "not" the basis for our laws.
_____

I only count three commandments that are laws here in the USA. Murder and theft are illegal everywhere, and have been illegal before religion was invented.

Repeat the big lie often enough, and it becomes the truth. That's what is important to these folks.

all by itself.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me vs. freedom of religion. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain vs. freedom of speech. Thou shalt not make and worship idols vs. freedom of religion. Thou shalt observe the sabbath vs. freedom of religion again.

Then you have the Commandments that are thoughtcrimes. Thou shalt honor father and mother and Thou shalt not covet this and that. We don't outlaw thoughts, only actions.

So we have these Christians who say the Constitution and our laws are based on the Bible. Are they lying, or do they really believe it?

They also mean the Commandments are for others, not them. Can you name less than ten prominent religious characters that have committed adultery? God doesn't count.

But the monument reflects the mall owner's "belief system and he is not afraid to share it." In other words, he's trying to make a statement.

How do these people lie so shamelessly?
