From the SOTU:
In America, we know that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the center of American life. The motto is in God we trust.
Like immigrants, atheists and agnostics are apparently not welcome in his version of America.
But it's Christians who are oppressed, right?

Tony Perkins: Trump Gets a Mulligan on Life, Stormy Daniels
Donald Trump is still the answer to many conservative evangelical leaders prayers. Or at least to their continuing grievances.
They embrace Trump the policymaker, despite being uneasy about Trump as a man, says Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a prominent evangelical activist group.
Perkins knows about Stormy Daniels, the porn actress who claimed, in a 2011 interview, that in 2006 she had sex with Trump four months after his wife, Melania, gave birth to their son, Barron. He knows of the reports that Daniels (real name: Stephanie Clifford) was paid off to keep the affair quiet in the waning weeks of the 2016 election. He knows about the cursing, the lewdness and the litany of questionable behavior over the past year of Trumps life or the 70 that came before it.

(4,915 posts)and that I should just get over the fact that our government uses it. We have bigger fish to deal with. Even when I indicated it was a bad sign of a creeping theocracy, I was told I was being divisive. But, here we see our current President telling people that you need to believe in god to be a good American. Seems like a hollow victory for me to say "I fucking told you so," but I fucking told you so.
The sad thing is that a lot of theists just won't give a shit.
