The Rapture: Any day now for the last 2,000 years

That was the opening line to a Fox News article promoting the claims of Christian numerologist David Meade, who allegedly said that the imaginary planet known as “Planet X” or “Nibiru” will appear in the sky on April 23, triggering the beginning of the Rapture.

According to a specific sect of evangelical Christians, the key to understanding the Rapture lies in Revelations 12:1-2.

“And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars,” the passage reads. “She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth.”

to make everything on the surface of this planet go extinct; they are doing a great job all by themselves.

From the beginning Christians looked for the return of the Messiah. The idea of Rapture where believers are taken up before tribulation is an American interpretation that began in the 19th century.

in a not so distant century.
A nouveau interpretation/invention.

We hold that Christ's eventual return will be the end of the 'age' as we experience life on earth presently.

It's not written in 'stone' or a hard copy of how it's gonna go down. We, as believers in The Anointed One, are to be more mindful of our comportment in the here and now while contemplating the future blessed hope, but not dwelling on it excessively.

Just sayin'.

All of these saved Xtians just floating up, up and away?

The image of a woman clothed with the sun while giving birth doesn't conjure up planet X. Is she really crying out in birth pain or b/c she is clothed with the sun?

I've seen it twice, trying both times to figure out who the audience is supposed to be.

Spoiler alert:

The Rapture actually happens!!!!
