Good news: Faith-based agencies open doors to kids separated at the border

From the article:

…………...In the past few weeks at least two faith-based agencies have sheltered or are currently caring for as many as 171 immigrant children who were separated from their families as a result of the widely condemned policy.
The service, which is sometimes called “short-term” or “transitional” foster care, is being offered by Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, which has helped the United States Office of Refugee Resettlement with placing foster children for 15 years, as well as Catholic Charities, which works under the purview of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

1. They do realize that the kids handed over to them were abducted, right?

It’s a fine line between helping the children and being an accomplice.

5. The bad news: most religions are linked to racism,.tribalism

God picked the Jews as his " chosen people." And encouraged them to slaughter rival tribes,.races.

This same racist tribalism was historically adapted by many Christians. Especially against blacks, but also say, Hispanics.

So it's good if some Christians try to help other races. But Trump's tough racist anti-immigrant stance, was also partly CAUSED by other elements within Judeo Christianity.

Luke 14.26. When he said his followers should "hate" and leave their family and mothers; and cleave to Jesus.

That's one of many ominous and distasteful parts of the Bible itself. Sometimes used by very,, very bad priests

10. Well, Now...Let's look at one of those groups from the article:

I looked up Bethany Christian Services. Guess who they have strong financial ties to:

Bethany Christian Services condemns Trump policy, despite ties to DeVos
Bethany Christian Services may have financial ties to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, but that hasn't stopped it from condemning President Trump's zero-tolerance policy on immigration.

DeVos and her billionaire family, tax records show, have been generous with the non-profit foster agency that has taken in at least 50 immigrant children separated from their parents at the border. Bethany, which has publicly scolded Trump's family-separation policy, has taken in $853,00 from the DeVos family over a 14-year period.

According to tax filings compiled by ProPublica, the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation donated $343,000 to Bethany between 2001 and 2015. The grants ranged from $10,000 a year to $52,000 a year — a sliver of Bethany's $97 million operating revenue in 2015.

11. And then there is International Christian Adoptions

They're located in Temecula, CA. Here's what the LA Times said about them:

International Christian Adoptions in Temecula got $838,000 in the last year to work with unaccompanied kids. The agency helps connect children with foster families in the area. It has been cited four times for “immediate health safety or personal rights” violations, according to state records.

A woman who answered the phone Friday said officials would be making no comment.
