Bad News: Priest Throws Mourning Family out of Funeral Service

Video at the link. Oh, yeah. It was a black family. Time to switch churches, I guess...

Raging Maryland priest boots grieving black family out of funeral for chalice mishap — then calls the cops

The Archdiocese of Washington was forced to issued an apology after a raging priest kicked a mourning family our of his church during a funeral and then proceeded to call the cops on them.

According to Fox5, the altercation happened at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlotte Hall, Maryland on Tuesday, when Reverend Michael Briese blew up at the family.

As hundreds of people mourned the death of 54-year-old Agnes Hicks, someone knocked over and damaged the church’s sacred golden chalice when they went in for a hug near the altar.

“That’s when all hell broke loose. He literally got on the mic and said, ‘There will be no funeral, there will be no mass, everyone get the hell out of my church,’” recalled Shanice Chisely, the daughter of Hicks. “He disrespected our family, he disrespected my mother. He called my mother ‘a thing.’ He said, ‘Get this thing out of my church! Everyone get the hell out of my church!’ It was very sad. I’ve never seen anything like that before.”

you are supposed there to spiritually watch over.

Smells kind of like idolatry.

There's a lot of chanting and various "sacred" objects used in the rituals all intended to provide a veil of legitimacy to what is essentially begging favor from a zombie.

The pastor kept his toungues speakers and trance dancers up front with him. Had their own reserved section for the truly fanatic.

No ritual items but plenty of chanting babbling singing and dancing around. Not for a moment do I believe they did it for Christ, they did for the Pastor.

you have the snake handlers, christian scientists and the like where they place their health and their very lives at stake.

Same kind of testing your faith.....I seem to remember that Christ warned against testing God.

More cherry picking.

I always wonder though if they have a stash of antivenin in the altar...

Is there a story there?

Was the priest forced to do anything other than say a few Hail Marys?

Glad my family doesn't attend that church, tho it's near their home.

DOUBLE damn, just checked, he was among the several priests I discussed presiding over my husband's burial service ## years ago. Glad he wasn't available.

Because racist people tend to fly off the handle at the slightest little infraction, like standing in an upright position at a Starbucks, dozing off in your university library, or barbequing at a public barbeque.

The parishioners have been nothing but the means to the gold for two millennia now. Their only value is their ability to produce more gold, but the gold was always the important part.

Seems he cares far more for a ritual chalice than grieving loved ones. He should be ashamed of himself for reacting that way. It was an accident, not like they were playing football with it.
