Christian and Conservative lack of compatibility is somewhat astounding

Follow me if you will down the road of defining conservatism and the juxtaposition between the values of conservatism and the values of Christianity.

As a popular political movement, conservatism is more specific regarding a host of specific political issues that include (among other things) the pro-life movement, judicial restraint, welfare reform, immigration reform and the sanctity of marriage (specifically the opposition to gay marriage).

Christianity: A few verses

Deuteronomy 24:14-15 Do not take advantage of a hired man who is poor and needy, whether he is a brother Israelite or an alien living in one of your towns. Proverbs 29 : 7 The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

Malachi 3:5 “So I will come near to you for judgement. I will be quick to testify against … those who defraud labourers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me,” says the LORD Almighty.

James 5:1-6 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate. Matthew 25:31-46 :“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, ...

I believe that Christianity should be all about being Christ like, or at least striving to be Christ like. Christ was an innovator who sought change and social justice, equality and freedom from the social constraints of the time. Pretty much completely the opposite of conservatism today.

1. Well oddly enough a religion that developed

Within a vast slave economy says nothing agai st the condition of slavery, and becomes instead a pillar of the system in the late Roman Empire, and in the feudal systems of servitude that replaced that system. Right down to the present day Christian theology is strongly linked to preserving the established order, to conservatism. It is and has been for the last 1800 years or so, in general, a deeply conservative religion.

2. Christians do that in their private lives, governments are not individuals. Christ didn't seek out

Caesar, that is one reason Christians know that governments destroy Christian charity and fight the worship of Christ and the Bible, they are not the source of it, so they vote to restrain and limit government and strive to live the Bible in their private lives and in their community, on their own, not by sending taxes to Caeser and his fat cats and bureaucrats.

3. The actual words attributed to Jesus have little to do with organized religion.

That is particularly true of the Roman Catholic Church organization. It has other priorities which take precedence. So, your meme is shockingly accurate. Judge churches and their organizations by their actions. Comparing them to what Jesus was suppose to have said will never lead to an understanding of their priorities.

4. Admittedly, the Jesus character is a little more consistent than the Jehovah Monster, but still...

Assaulting fig trees?
Mutilate yourself to avoid hell?

Never mind slaughtering pigs, or all the Grade A crazy crap in Revelations. This is a guy who refused to wash his hands before eating.
