Vatican slams the door on women again

Liberal Catholics believe a war on women is being waged not (or not only) by the Republican Party but also by the Vatican. If so, the women lost another battle this week with the pope’s appointment of a new head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the orthodoxy-guarding agency once headed by Pope Benedict XVI. The new prefect of the congregation is Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, and he opposes giving women even third-class status in the clergy.

near future.

The archaic attitudes towards women are getting harder and harder to justify and maintain, imo.

I don't know what the outcome will be, but angry nuns are a force to be reckoned with.

Or to anyone else, for that matter. It's nothing new at all from the Vatican, they are simply being called to task for it more often and more vocally. I'm sure the strident anti-theism of "New Atheists" has nothing whatsoever to do with that. (why do I get the feeling that someone is going to lie like a carpet in response to this).

But Catholic women and liberal Catholics in general have all the power they need, if they only had the courage to exercise it. Leave. Stop supporting the Catholic church, stop giving them money, stop calling yourself one of them, stop associating with them in any way. Then you'll be free. Of something, anyway...
