Colorado: Judge Bars Penalties Against Employer, for Now

A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction barring penalties against a heating and air-conditioning business ... The Obama administration’s health care legislation requires group health plans to offer women no-cost preventive care coverage for items including contraception. The business, Hercules Industries, is run by a family whose Roman Catholic beliefs condemn contraception, but it does not qualify as a religious employer exempt from offering the coverage. Hercules Industries went to court, and Judge John Kane of Federal District Court in Denver issued a preliminary injunction on Friday keeping the government from penalizing the company for its health plan while its lawsuit proceeds ...
