YEs, this is an old article, but its worth revisiting.
How are people like this electable? I think THAT is the real problem with religion in this country, it is keeping people ignorant and voting for idiots like this. THIS is the fight that progressive believers should be fighting, IMO. They should be fighting the institutionalized willful ignorance forced upon members of the congregations.
But I am afraid that it will never happen, as doing so only exposes the absurdity of it all.
The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children, said Marshall, a Republican.
In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. Theres a special punishment Christians would suggest.
Marshall is also fighting against health care reform, saying that Obamacare is trying to take your soul. Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has been pushing back against high-profile figures and entities who have been attacking people with disabilities. Will she speak out against someone in her own party?

(2,261 posts)a child with a disability should be ashamed of themselves.
Of course, statistics and facts never entered into this.
About 2/3rds of women who give birth to a child with a major birth defect never had an abortion, nor a miscarriage, but who bothers with the facts if one can make a statement and get people to give one money?
Such arrogance and such a disgusting misogynistic statement, from none other than a man, contributor of 1/2 the genes of every child born, and those genes from one sperm are responsible for over 60-80% of birth defects in babies. But who's counting when men are involved?

(9,137 posts)Blaming religion is the easy part, or just generally blaming. What is more challenging is to start questioning the wisdom of representative democracy, and to grow out of hating stupid people who elect the wrong types...

(9,137 posts)I'm on the same planet, under same global capitalism, under same system (or similar enough) "representative" "democracy". In a country of "pagan" indigenous people that was conquered by papal order by Swedish crusaders, where ordinary people still, after hundreds of years, still suffer from many similar problems as native Americans. It does not really help that physical occupation by foreigners has morphed into mental occupation by ourselves.

I might as well say being a Red Sox fan makes your hair fall out. Lots of New Yorkers would agree.

Or are you just another reincarnation of the one that keeps coming here, spewing nonsense, and getting banned?
