Seeking help with daughter's health insurance

Does anyone know a way to find decent health insurance?

One of my daughters turns 26 later this month and will no longer be covered under my husband's policy. She is unemployed, hasn't finished college and is being treated for anxiety disorder and depression. This pre-existing condition might make her rates too high for us to afford, but I don't know how the system works.

Would you please also send light for her healing, and for being able to find a job? I am so worried about her. Thanks!

2. I'm so sorry, LiberalEsto...

I can understand you being worried.

Have you tried to get her meds covered via the pharmaceutical companies' patient assistance programs? I think her prescribing physician will need to initiate that for you, so it's something you'll want to do right away.

As for ongoing therapy and/or treatment, maybe by some miracle you live in an area which has good social service programs for those without insurance coverage and with low/no income. Some areas are wonderful, others aren't.

Sending light and well wishes her way...and yours!!!

5. Thank you, OneGrassRoot

I suspect that the social service programs that could help her won't be available until 2014 if, Goddess willing, President Obama gets re-elected and Obamacare stays in place.

We can certainly look into the patient assistant programs. Good suggestion.

3. try a broker

When I had trouble getting insurance, I went to a broker a friend recommended. I had been without insurance for a number of years because of pre- existing conditions. I was able to get good insurance because they know how to work the system.

Get insurance before the other plan ends! That is absolutely the most important thing. Better to have a huge deductible than no insurance. It is also impossible to get insurance if you have three things wrong with you, even if they are minor. So be careful how she answers the questions.

Sending light to both of you.

4. Thank you! How do I find a broker?

Would that be like going to the agent who handles our car and homeowner insurance?

7. Yes talk to your agent.

Hopefully if they don't represent any health insurance co.s, they can refer you to someone who can help you.
