The Return of The Great Mother

2012: THE RETURN OF THE GREAT MOTHER
Christine Page, M.D.

It is said there will be a return of the feminine in 2012, portrayed in the symbols of the Virgin, the Mother, and the Crone. This emergence of the feminine inherently implies a death, or diminishing, of masculine energy. According to author, teacher and Cancun Prophets Conference presenter Dr. Christine Page, this change of tides, or shift in feminine/masculine power, can be seen as “the completion of the hero’s journey.” She shows not only how the myths of the feminine and the masculine incarnation relate to our personal journey toward 2012 and a new consciousness, but also how we can use the lessons of these symbols and myths to prepare ourselves for the coming changes.

Welcome To The Greatest Show On Earth

“Congratulations—you are among a select Group of souls who won the lottery to be here, on this planet, at this time! The prize not only ensures you a front row seat but also the unique opportunity to cocreate the future of the human race. Your contribution, along with that of other awakened souls, will create a blueprint, which will influence your ancestors and the next 26,000 years of human existence. This is what you have been working toward during your many incarnations; this is the moment you’ve been awaiting. This is a time to remember.

“For the first time in 26,000 years, our sun and, by implication, the Earth is aligned with the dark rift of the galaxy, the Milky Way. The path of interstellar dust is known as the “black road” by the Maya and leads us directly to the galactic center.

“According to the ancient people who observed the skies night after night, the Milky Way represents the great mother and the great serpent, both synonymous with death and rebirth, the essential ingredients of transformation. The dark rift is seen as a symbol of both the open vagina of the mother and the gaping mouth of the serpent. Whatever the symbol, the message is the same: this is the portal through which we are born, and it is to here that we will return to die.

“To the indigenous people, this center represents the heart of the great mother. It was here that king-priests and shamans would travel to receive the insights and wisdom that could be translated into reality for the well-being of the land and its people. It is seen as the portal to multidimensional reality, parallel worlds, the void, the place of nothingness and the ocean of possibilities, accessible in the past only to the elite or those in deep meditative states. Now, at this extraordinary time, its riches are available to all of us if we can step outside our limiting belief patterns and rekindle the innocence and joy that allow us to harmonize with the pulse of the great mother.

“We are like children in a candy store, and the great mother is offering us an unlimited array of goodies. Yet, if our hearts and minds are still locked into a particular paradigm of belief concerning ourselves and the world, all we will see and select are the candies with which we are familiar, and we will pass by the rest. This is certainly a good moment to take a risk.” —Christine Page, M. D.

Sounds like a description of the great Serpent Mound. For those of you unfamiliar with this remarkable and mysterious effigy mound, see:

of the opening of the energy from the galactic center and how it's flowing toward the planet. I saw as it enfolded the earth. It swept our planet in an embrace of power. I'll have to draw a pic of it tomorrow.

It was way cool and scary amazing.

This ancient symbol as old as humanity is so mysterious. Some say it represents a stargate that contains earthling blood to our orbit.

I had what may be an epiphany about this symbol a couple days ago. (I think about ancient mysteries a lot ) I think one way we can read it is, "The Universe is creating me; and I am creating the Universe". I feel there's the secret of the trinity here as well, as in Isis/Osiris/Horus. An eternal circle of life/death/rebirth.

Great post. Thanks. This is a the best of times and the worst of times and I'm grateful for my place here. I keep looking for my REAL role and since I can't find one, I just live my mundane life in the most spiritual way I can.

Dividing a woman's life up into "virgin, mother, crone" reduces that life to one of child-rearing and sexual usefulness. I find that highly offensive. I don't know many women whose sense of self comes from whether they have their periods or not - which is what this division is based on.

This idea was first propagated by Robert Graves in the 40's. While I appreciate his book The White Goddess, this idea is a very two-dimensional view of women and dismissive of every other aspect of a woman's intellectual and spiritual life. Not to mention it being a shallow interpretation of deity in it's multifarious forms. Not every female deity fits the fertility goddess role - just as with male deities, the concepts and roles they rule over cover the entire spectrum of experience.

Why this idea of "virgin, mother, crone" was picked up by 70's feminist occultists is a mystery.

And frankly, promulgating something that will bring about the "death, or diminishing" of another group of people isn't something to cheer about.

I see the future as an evolution of the INDIVIDUAL. Not a 'return' to some past that may or may not have even existed (for instance the myth of some golden age of matriarchy). I believe that humanity is evolving past narrow ideas of gender roles and developing an integration of what has traditionally been called 'feminine' and 'masculine' energies. People will find the balance of those energies within themselves and grow to be whole human beings, pursuing interests and roles that resonate with their integrated whole selves.

you posting your thoughts here. Honestly, though, I do feel a loss in my sense of self with the loss of periods. But, the rest of this is amazing. And maybe the reason I do has something to do with this popular version of the triad goddess.

I suppose one reason it would be picked up could be because as females, our bodies do have a rhythm. A void exists where our honoring of those seasons once took place. I look to the Moon to help with this connection. Sometimes I feel a deep loss for what we could be.

Your vision of the future is right on afaic. I see this same vision painted by many visionaries in many places as we approach the unfolding of Mysteries.
