seer or psychic ?

I have an interesting student in one of my classes this semester. When we did introductions, she said she was a seer. She distinguished herself from psychics, saying that some psychics were of the dark side. She said she gets her gifts from God. Note that she did not say all psychics, just some.

She told a couple of stories about some of her experiences and they were interesting, indeed. I wish so much time had not elapsed between her stories and my post. I would have liked to relate a few.

Maybe I can get her to refresh my memory and I can come back to this thread and tell a few of the stories.

Anyway, here's my question. Have any of you ever heard someone distinguish themselves like this before?

Is there a difference between a seer and a psychic?

I'm just wondering if she's a very religious person and prefers to think of her gift as being from God rather than as part of her personal make-up.

I'm happy to have her in my class. She has a heart of gold and is a very lovely person.

She's said the term 'psychic' is a market construct and to 'medium' she replies ... "well, medium what?"
She describes herself as clairvoyant because it means 'clear vision' and that she can see "on the other side".

She has worked with homicide detectives in KS and MO and with the Gov't (re: the nuns in Nicaragua 20-some years ago).

For her to proclaim that she's a seer because some psychics are on the dark side is just nonsense. She's certainly free to use whatever term she wants, but she is implicitly tarring all psychics with her distinction.

Thinking she might be very religious thinking of her gift as being from God is certainly plausible, but it seems to me that very many who call themselves psychic believe exactly the same thing.

It is nice to hear that she has a heart of gold and is a lovely person. Personally, I'd be somewhat weirded out by someone making her psychic-seer pronouncement.
