'Blood Moon' of April 15 Will Fulfill Biblical Prophesy

Of course it would be April 15th...their most dreaded of all days...tax day.

During the early hours of April 15, many will look up to the sky and assume that the end has finally come. Do not fret however; no matter how apocalyptic the moon will look, it will still just be a 'Blood Moon'.

Based on Earth's position, North America will be in perfect position to catch the event that peaks at 3:45 a.m. EDT.

During the total lunar eclipse, our moon will appear to be glazed in a crimson light just as Mars comes to view right next to it. This occurrence will fulfill the "Blood Moon Prophecy", which foresees major events in Israel that will result in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Popularized by pastors John Hagee and Mark Blitz, the prophecy states that the tetrad coincides with two Jewish holidays: "Passover"" and "The Feast of Tabernacles".

"The Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar," said Bruce McClure of EarthSky. "In any year, it's inevitable that a full moon should fall on or near the feasts of Passover (15 Nissan) and Tabernacles (15 Tishri) ... It is somewhat ironic that three of these four lunar eclipses are not visible - even in part - from Israel. The only eclipse that can be seen at all from Israel is the tail end of the September 28, 2015 eclipse, which may be observable for a short while before sunrise."

So, I wonder if they will beat him to death?

1. What in the world is this "blood moon" nonsense?

Most of the time lunar eclipses make the moon look red. It's not that unusual. There was an eclipse about a year ago where the moon was so incredibly dark you could hardly see -- that was unusual.

Lunar eclipses happen just about every year.

7. Oh, and another detail:

'... just as Mars comes into view right next to it." Ummm, Mars rose a little while before the Moon did, and, if you have reasonably clear skies, is going to be visible all night: before, during, and after the eclipse.

As I type this, the eclipse is about halfway to total, and the part of the moon that is in the earth's shadow isn't particularly red. Perhaps it will look much redder at totality.

December 21, 2012, there was a lunar eclipse and the moon almost disappeared from view during it. Quite bizarre, as I've seen a reasonable number of eclipses, and if I hadn't been going in and out of my house to watch it that night, I would never have been able to locate the moon in the sky at totality.
