The head of the Italian conference of Catholic bishops says the church must listen to all arguments around homosexuality and same-sex marriage.
According to the Tablet, Nunzio Galantino, bishop of Cassano all'Jonio in southern Italy, told a Florence newspaper that the Catholic Church should be more willing to engage in dialogue around difficult issues.
My wish for the Italian Church is that it is able to listen without any taboo to the arguments in favor of married priests, the Eucharist for the divorced, and homosexuality, he said.
Echoing Pope Francis, who said last year that the church had become obsessed about fighting abortion and same-sex marriage, Galatino said other important issues were being ignored.
