Fort Bragg ends Spanish-language Catholic mass

The Rev. Michael Travaglione shook hands and offered blessings on Sunday as people filed out of the final Spanish-language Catholic mass to be held on Fort Bragg.

"I think it's wrong," Travaglione said. "We have to protect their culture."

Sunday's mass at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Chapel was the last to be offered entirely in Spanish. About 200 people attended.

Ben Abel, a Fort Bragg spokesman, said the Spanish-language mass isn't in demand like it used to be
