European Jews face rising tide of anti-Semitism in Gaza operation's wake

Two leading German newspapers led their Friday editions with calls for an end to hatred against Jews.

Jews in Europe are facing a rising tide of anti-Semitism, as left-wing, right-wing and Islamic groups take to the streets to protest against Israel's military operation in Gaza.

In Toulouse, France, over the weekend, police arrested a man for throwing fire-bombs at a local Jewish center. The fire-bombs failed to ignite.

In Britain, police have recorded more than 100 anti-Jewish hate crimes since the Gaza conflict began, including an attack on a rabbi by four Muslim youths in Gateshead, a Hassidic enclave in north-east England, and bricks thrown through the windows of a Belfast synagogue on two successive nights.

In Norway, police have recommended the temporary closure of two Jewish museums, for fear of attack, while in Copenhagen on the weekend police dispersed a pro-Israel rally out of concern for the safety of the participants.

German TV showed protesters from the country's Arab minority threatening violence against Jews at a demonstration in Berlin on Thursday. Similar incidents took place in Frankfurt and Essen recently, according to police.

Not surprising, nor are the repugnant responses from some so-called "progressives." Anti-Semitism never goes out of vogue, but there seem to be times when it becomes downright acceptable!

Mostly awful but occasionally I have been surprised by a few ( too few) posters that have called out the real bad ones.
There was one in particular that I wouldn't have thought it would come from- and I appreciated it.
But on the whole it has been pretty depressing.

3. It isn't "Antisemitism". It is calling out brutal behavior and applying
the same standards that we apply to others that commit similar acts of aggression.

If you want to defend the Israeli right-wingers and what seems nothing short of war crimes (collective punishment), please go ahead and make your arguments. But I will not stand for any commentary on the subject being labeled "antisemitism."

they know the American political establishment is owned by the Jews. That is plain and simple.

I fully support Israel's right to exist and for Israelis to live in peace. But I am tired of the "thumbing of the nose" from the Israeli side. If they want to play games let them play them with their own money or the wealthy American Jews can send their money directly to the Israeli treasury.

It survived a jury, 4-3, and one person has admitted they voted to "leave it".

Is disgusting that a peoples that went through what the Jews went through under Hitler, would turn around and start the same process against another peoples, especially since the Jews have been feeding off the collective guilt of the world for 60-70 years for what they went through under Hitler.

Also a 3-4 to "LEAVE IT" vote.

The post you put up sounds like this one:

Just screaming Anti-Semitism is a convenient self-serving response - this is a reaction to the genocide taking place in Gaza in much the same way as the world turned on the Nazis for the horrific genocide of European Jews.

So much for:

Terms of Service

No bigoted hate speech.

Do not post bigotry based on someone's race or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or lack thereof, disability, or other comparable personal characteristic. To be clear: This includes any post which states opposition to full equal rights for gays and lesbians; it also includes any post asserting disloyalty by Jewish Americans, claiming nefarious influence by Jews/Zionists/Israel, advocating the destruction of the state of Israel, or arguing that Holocaust deniers are just misunderstood. In determining what constitutes bigotry, please be aware that we cannot know what is in anyone's heart, and we will give members the benefit of the doubt, when — and only when — such doubt exists.

It would be one thing, if it were simply limited to hit-and-run trolls (of which there are plenty), but these are long time DU'ers.
