Teen Magazine Promotes Conspiracy Theory from Protocols of the Elders of Zion

Affinity Magazine is a publication written by and for teenagers. Its Editor-in-Chief, Evelyn Woodsen, is nineteen, and its Senior Editor Alex Brown is in high school.

Its website gets between 200,000 and 600,000 views per month, and it claims that it “serves a purpose of showcasing the voices of aspiring teen journalists.” The publication aims to “mix[] pop culture with social justice and politics….”

The young age of its writers and editors, however, does not excuse its promotion of an antisemitic conspiracy theory. In January, the magazine published an article titled, "Money and Israel Control the Media: Who Cares?" (January 8, 2017) Seventeen year-old author Zoya Wazir, relying on the antisemitic Rense website, wrote that:

Israel has political and economic ties to America of such necessity that they control the majority of the media. In fact, the big six corporations mentioned earlier all have Israeli ties and are headed by powerful Jewish families within the United States.

But maybe it is and I just don't hear about it. Do teachers give their students lists of unacceptable sources? These days it seems pretty necessary, as we know antisemitic sites often conceal there true feelings about jews and others or dress up the bigotry using social science mumbo jumbo etc.

I never thought about it until now, but sites like rence, infoclearinghouse et al probably are influencing thousands of kids. And the kids don't know the sites content is unreliable or out right propaganda. Which brings me to this wonderful article from another young writer at Affinity:

Gal Gadot Is a Zionist, But White Feminists Choose To Not Care

“Zionism” is defined as “a worldwide Jewish movement that resulted in the establishment and development of the state of Israel.” That development of Israel involves the invasion and occupation of the country of Palestine and the killings of innocent Palestinians. A zionist is someone who supports the occupation of Palestinian land by Israel, which includes the war crimes committed by the Israelian military.

Gal Gadot is a former soldier for the Israel Defense Forces, and, in 2014, she posted a picture on Facebook, declaring her support for the Israelian military. Although Gadot received backlash for her post, she was still cast as Wonder Woman, a character that symbolizes female empowerment and femininity in the superhero world.

Gadot has been open about serving and supporting the Israeli military, yet many self-proclaimed feminists choose to ignore that. They still see Gadot as an inspiring and empowering woman playing an equally empowering character. They have chosen to ignore the fact that Gadot supports the atrocious war crimes committed against innocent Palestinian civilians. In an ironic twist, however, her shaved armpits in the new Wonder Woman trailer is what angered these “feminists"

-snip-

How could she get so much wrong? Hate sites.

The author sounds like a complete moron, besides the ahistorical bullshit about Zionism, the fact the author can't even get the proper adjective for someone from Israel, which is of course, Israeli, it shows how anti-Semitism is intellectualized, well sort of, and goes mainstream.

Watching people try to justify anti-Semitism, while proclaiming to be against bigotry, is fascinating as it is sickening, but it is WAY too common, especially on our side of the fence. What is worse is the cognitive dissonance which plagues these bigots is spreading like a virus, and it is the Jew who will inevitably be hurt, but it NEVER stops with us. When "they come for them" there will be no one to speak up because the ones most committed to social justice is usually the Jew and we will have been long silenced, in part, because of THIER rationalization of anti-Semitism and the others who "let it slide" in so-called progressive/liberal enclaves.

States that her family are immigrants from Sri Lanka. But that contruction discloses to me that she has done very little reading on Israel, otherwise she would have known the demonym.

Good point about social justice. There are so many forces out there trying to drive wedges in progressivism.

need GUIDANCE and are often full of themselves and some bullshit.

Is any seasoned reporter offering that guidance on this website? Any who would say, "you really need to stop because you are parroting hate speech"?

Who pays the bills to get this fine "journalism" seen?
