Why are there jelly donuts for Hanukkah?
Sufganiyot are deep-fried jelly doughnuts that are traditionally eaten during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. The oil used to fry the doughnuts are reminiscent of the oil that miraculously burned— according to the Hanukkah story—in the ancient Temple in Jerusalem.Jul 15, 2019

P.S. The eight-day Jewish celebration known as Hanukkah or Chanukah commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, where according to legend Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt.
