(29,047 posts)Just like how blue states have to subsidize red states, yet the Republicans in red states think they are superior.
How many seeing-eye cats are there? How many videos of cats welcoming home soldiers from the wars? How many stories on Animal Planet involve a cat rescuing a person? Not very many.

(3,231 posts)Every day she brings me a mouse on my front door! She can't help that's all she can do for us. I love having a mouse free house. How many dog houses can say that!

(3,231 posts)so you wouldn't put up mouse traps if you had a mouse problem in your house? Should we do away with all cats then since that's their natural instinct. I'm sure you're dogs only eat veggie food - no animal products that were "preyed upon" in that mix.

(15,882 posts)position. My cat takes care of our mouse problem just fine, thanks, but it doesn't change the similarities in behavior. Interestingly, the "mouse problem" is not a problem from the mouse's point of view, she's just trying to get food for herself and the family. Much like the aged and low-income. It's the cat, and those who support them, that see such behavior as a liability.
There are millions of closet Rethuglicans that are also making excuses for the Voucher King, who has spent his life preying on the vulnerable and weak, and being rather proud of it. That cats might have their blind followers too wouldn't surprise me.
And unlike cats, while most dogs are capable of preying on things, cats make a profession out of it. Like Paul Ryan.
Many dogs, on the other hand, live their entire lives eating bagged cereal called "dog food" with never a hint of meat, which, on a nutritional level, is more along the lines of getting food stamps.
I should add - cats have no choice in the fact that their muscles must have meat. Lyin' Ryan has a choice, but chooses to hurt people, then grin and lick his whiskers after.
That's the difference.

I can't tell for others - but I have had cats that more than welcome me when I came home, for the most part because they was hungry, and had been out all day .. They got out with me in the morning, and then got in with me, when I came home again.. One of them I had, she was sitting at the place where I was going off the bus, and was walking with me all the way back home, and chatting as cats can do, I'm not sure what she was telling me, but she sounds like she was happy seeing me..
But then again, it is a size difference between a cat, and a dog, and even though cats can be as brave as a dog, for the most part they tend to run instead of fight... If they can't demonstrate their size they tend to go away instead of fight..

(11,122 posts)Sort of like if I showed that cats are smart and dogs are stupid, which is an easy proof, so postulated that your fellow Democrats are stupid. Why would you think that?

(195 posts)I've sent this to all my cat-loving friends.
Five kitties share our house and they all earn their keep. They regularly find things I'm looking for, they answer to their names, they come running to greet us when we get home and on many occasions they have alerted us to something wrong in the house because they heard sounds that we couldn't or noticed small things that we'd overlooked. And nothing beats sleeping next to a warm kitty on a cold night.

My family had cats while I was growing up and I loved them. My brother had dogs when he was in the Peace Corps in Ecuador. When he came back to the United States, he had two Bernese Mountain Dogs - they were wonderful. When I went out to California for graduate school, I still chose to have a cat.
In 1991, we moved to Oregon and a property that was just begging to have dogs running around on it. We were lucky to find out first two dogs in 1994 - a Great Pyrenees and a Bernese Mountain Dog. They changed my life. My current dogs, another Pyr and a Husky-German Shepard, enrich my life every day.
Tom Dundee's song Dog really says it for me:
(you can get right to the music at 1:20 in the video; copy url at current time didn't work).
The big change comes with the slightest decisions
And you're in for a surprise if you think you've got it figured, I've found
Who'd ever thought I would dote on a pet
But looking back now I almost forget
How I filled up my time before my dog was around.
