World-renowned paleontologist Philip Currie has finally unveiled an "unbelievably lucky" find at the University of Alberta's Dino Lab -- and it took three years of careful work.
It took that long for Currie and his U of A team to prepare the baby Chasmosaurus skeleton he found in Dinosaur Provincial Park for viewing.
"This is the most complete baby ceratopsid -- horned dinosaur -- that's ever been found anywhere in the world," said Currie, the Canada Research Chair in Dinosaur Paleobiology at the U of A.
The skeleton is almost entirely intact, which is almost unheard of for a baby dinosaur specimen. Only the arms are missing due to erosion cutting a sinkhole through that part of the fossil thousands of years ago.
