Pyramids - Researchers find wet sand was key to movement of huge stone blocks.

Researchers have uncovered one of the key methods the Egyptians used to build the pyramids.

They have long been baffled by exactly how workers were able to transport large blocks of stone to construction sites.

Now, they say the key was simple - wet sand.

'For the construction of the pyramids, the ancient Egyptians had to transport heavy blocks of stone and large statues across the desert,' researchers at the University of Amsterdam said.

The team tried to replicate this - and found wet sand was the key.

The painting does appear to support this system too.

I remember a different theory put to us by my old Archaeology teacher back in the early 1980s. I do not know what real evidence he may have had to base this on but it sounded reasonable to me. I can not draw it out for you but this should not require too much imagination for one to see what he was saying.

He drew a square on the chalk board then drew a circle around it letting the arc of the circle touch the square at the corners. He said everything within the square was rock, everything outside the square but inside the circle was wood. He went on to say that wooden shapes like these attached to the building stones turned them into large wheels and they simply rolled them wherever they wanted too. When the block arrived at it's destination the wooden shapes were removed and sent back to where the next stone was waiting to be moved. Like I said, it seemed pretty reasonable to me but I have never heard anyone else suggest anything like this.

As I watch the History Channels, I find it amazing that they come to the conclusion that the pyramids couldn't have been built by people of African decent. They would prefer the structures of Egypt be built by anyone other then the people who lived there, even ET's.

I actually once heard a tee-vee preacher contending that Jayzus made the pyramids. To clinch his argument, he looked into the camera and said, "You're not going to tell me that cavemen made the pyramids, are you?".
