(19,148 posts)The next problem is what to do about nano-particles in our drinking water. Researchers have found microplastics and plastic fibers in 83% of tap water samples from major cities around the world, and in 93% of samples from the worlds top 11 bottled water brands. Imagine that; your purified "spring water" in those nice plastic bottles are worse for you than tap water! These microplastics and plastic fibers cannot be healthy to consume. They're entering our bloodstreams and who knows what effect they're having on our organs, perhaps even our DNA?
Whenever I think about our plastic nightmare I'm reminded of the movie 'The Graduate". At Ben's graduation party one of the older men in attendance takes Ben (Dustin Hoffman) aside and says, "One word Benjamin..........plastics". If we had any inkling of the problems "plastics" would cause half a century later we never would have used them as much as we did (do).
