Freethought Convention coming up in East Texas

Wanted to put this out there if some of you Texas freethinkers might have missed it. Will also cross-post in the Texas group. By the way, I am seriously considering forming a Texas chapter of the FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation). To do it, I have to have the names of at least 10 persons who would join the group. If any of you good atheists are in Texas and are interested, give me a holler.

It's written in the frikkin' Texas Constitution, fer Chrissakes. I am also considering contacting the ACLU and FFRF to see if we can mount a legal challenge to get it overturned.

im down with starting a texas chapter of the ffrf. my wife and I just recently started a group "kaufman county atheists & freethinkers" on facebook and really want to be atheist activists. we are adopting a highway as our first group activity. also, we are hosting a "meet & greet an atheist" get together tomorrow night(sunday sep 28) in our hometown of kaufman tx. so, if you're serious about it, here are at least 2 people who will join. I'm very interested in activism.
thanks

But, ultimately, I chose to spend next weekend with a couple of irreverent Illinois podcasters instead.

It was only one day, which I kind of like.

Two speakers in the morning:
Dr. Burt on evolutionary biology (much more interesting than it might sound)
Beth Presswood (how to "come out" as an atheist).

A 2-hour lunch, then the afternoon speakers:
Jerry deWitt (ex-pastor turned atheist-really good)
Aron Ra (snarky as hell)
Kathleen Johnson (sexual assault in the military with the religious component) and
Matt Dillahunty (a riot).

There was another 2-hour break for dinner then a Q&A, followed by an after-party. We had to peel off after Matt spoke but really enjoyed meeting some other freethinkers.

It always great to spend time with like-minded people.

I will be contacting the other people in this thread about the possibility of forming that FFRF chapter.
