Colorado Professor Forces Students to Say Anti-American Pledge; University to Investigate

"I pledge allegiance to and wrap myself in the flag of the United States Against Anything Un-American and to the Republicans for which it stands, two nations, under Jesus, rich against poor, with curtailed liberty and justice for all except blacks, homosexuals, women who want abortions, Communists, welfare queens, treehuggers, feminazis, illegal immigrants, children of illegal immigrants, and you if you don't watch your step."

Misleading headline - a SHOCK since this story is from the Christian Post, and Xians never lie, amirite?

No one was "forced" to say anything, apparently. The professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Charles Angeletti, wrote a satirical version of the Pledge and used it in his class.

As the University itself admits: no students in the class complained to the University administration, or reported the professor etc.

All the hoopla started when right-wing nutbar Caleb Bonham got ahold of the story and ran it on his "Campus Reform" website.

that people who have made it to a university would be able to understand satire and would be able to see that this is a learning experience and one that should open up a lively discussion. But some are just so blinded by their strong beliefs that they cannot see other opinions.

I loved this comment that was referenced in the article (emphasis is mine):

"He is blatantly liberal, anti-American, close minded, and Christian hating. Although I'm not one to judge, he could be damned to hell for all I care...."

that mean exactly the opposite of what they say. I cringe whenever I hear it.

IOW.... religion poisoned some satirical, yet eye opening, schtick for thinking people, and turned it into a confrontation and general butt-hurt.....

As usual.
