Partly because it had no votes and I like to help the underdog.

Bonus Mormon Hijinx, for those normal people who don't obsess over true crime stuff:

Here's a story almost as unbelievable as Joseph Smith's magic spectacles. Only this all happened for real, and left 2 people dead.

Meet Mark Hofmann, the swindler who bilked $$$ out of rich Mormons by "discovering" (forging) old documents potentially embarrassing to the LDS. He also "discovered" an unpublished poem by Emily Dickinson!

Because it and Scientology should never even be taken seriously by the government. (or anyone else)

Like Betty Bowers said "Atheism, the only belief about god that is taxed by the US government."

did a show on the Mormon's. The series is on the History2 channel. All sorts of interesting stuff:

1) the US gov't tried to exterminate the Mormons, e.g. genocide
2) Mormons helped the Mafia finance the building of Las Vegas
3) Mormons have run brothels
4) Mormons massacred 100+ pioneers in the Utah territory
5) Mormons were kicked out of the United States, and moved to Spanish lands (in the Utah territory)

can't remember the others

I had to go with True Morality, since this is something that I repeat often to people who think that they are better than I am because they believe in God. Of course, I go further by saying that I am a "better" person than they are since I do the right thing without any other reason than that it is the right thing...no god involved.

But I really wanted to pick LDS, because it was too funny, as well as pathetic to think it is taken seriously by so many (and our government).

Doing the right thing in order to save one's own skin seems like pretty self-centered, cover-your-ass behavior.

The belief that they have the moral high ground is all that is keeping theists afloat. I've been watching debates and interviews and the morality question always comes up. There are even debates where the atheist literally has the theist admitting that morality exists outside of their religion but they go back to it rewording it a bit later as if that is a different issue. It is the issue that theists think they have an unassailable position on so every time we can chip away at it all the better.

It's a great quote, very succinct and to the point, and I like the design.

Thanks for the opportunity to vote on this.

I wonder just how many people from some other place come here to read and see these and get all upset seeing them. Then they say we're "arrogant" for posting true stuff like this?

And if they want to Troll, let them Troll, at their ecumenical or spiritual peril.
