Sounds of Sodomy campaign

Ireland is going to have some referendums in 2015, according to this recent story in the Irish Times online. One of those country-wide referendums will decide whether gay marriage will be allowed. Whether to allow same-sex couples to adopt children is also on the docket.

As you might imagine, some of the more-traditional believers are not happy about it. An unattributed flyer has appeared:

Twitter is having much fun with the new meme.

Can we safely assume that a right-wingnut group, no doubt "believers" published this?

Do I need a justification as to why I am putting this in the A&A group?

Does any atheist or agnostic here think, for one minute, that an atheist or agnostic group would publish something like this?

(yeah, I know, false flag bullshit. could be. doubtful.)

I have never seen people so fucking OBSESSED with the penises, vaginas, anuses, testicles, and clitori of other people (and what is done with them, in them, or to them) than the fucked up, sexually repressed Religious Fanatics of this world.

You know, I dated a dude many years ago that was quite "born again" (not all the way, since he was happy ask for a blow job on the first date). And I know this is antecdotal, but he was a fucking creep. TOTAL sexual deviant in a disturbing, offensive way (and lemme tell you...I find very little that occurs between consenting adults to be offensive or disturbing). He was so goddamned repressed.

Our relationship was short-lived for many reasons, but his sexual...interests (?) were high on the list. I don't even know if I could call what he did, what he wanted done, and what he was into to be "interests" as much as they were....disorders? It was really bizarre.

And the entire time he's listing this litany of depravity that he had planned for the weekend, he's talking out the other side of his mouth about how disgusting male homosexual sex is, using horrifically offensive terms. And I'm like "sooo....buttsex is gross....unless you're doing it....and you want me to do what where with what?"

Growing up in the Bible Belt, born agains, evangelicals and other fanatics are a dime a dozen. I would be a rich gal if I had a nickel for every "you won't fucking BELIEVE what he/she wanted to put in/on me" creepy sexual stories from friends, relatives, and lovers.

Bizarre folks out there. Many of them want to legislate what goes on in other people's bedrooms and lives.

Just to procreate? That's it?

Of course not. I think there are many "must have control over someone" issues spewed all over the place.

Where do they think the word Sodomy comes from?

But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.”—Genesis 19:4-8

He is very up on USA politics as well and describes this campaign as something like the Prop 8 campaign in California back when we were both living there. Money flowing in from who knows where... (not as much as in California, as Ireland is a smaller nation than Calif is a state, and the money is much less). But he thinks this is funded by people "outside of Ireland", as Prop 8 in California got more money from Mormons in Utah than Catholics in California.

Anyway, I like that new Simon and Garfunkle album cover, but I'm not sure I will buy it.

Great "humour" as the Irish would spell it.

As an aside, back when I was 14, my 9 year older sister and my new brother-in-law were married 3 months and came to stay at our house for the first time, (me and my parent's house). They were in the next bedroom to me in an old thin wall 1900 era home. First time I heard what sex sounded like. I thought they were just wrestling. Just sayin'.
