Related: About this forumSo what would Pope Francis be banned from DU for?
Given some of his new statements that are getting traction, what things that the Pope has said would get someone PPR'd from this progressive site. I think think is an interesting concept given the way so many progressives here fawn over this new Pope.
My first thought, "Catholics shouldn't breed like rabbits."

(49,533 posts)Rabbits, fuck yeah.
His statements on marriage equality.
Even his statements on homosexuality - nobody seems to want to acknowledge that they were made specifically in the context of a gay priest. "Who is he to judge" refers only to a PRIEST who is refraining from homosexual sex, or being in a same-sex relationship. That's who he won't judge. In other words, it's the equivalent of "love the sinner, hate the sin."
I thought about his grotesque statements on Charlie Hebdo, but then I realized that DUers in evidently good standing said the same thing (blaming the blasphemers for provoking the attackers) and realized that's not enough to get banned.

(5,649 posts)and they are not PPR'd so probably nothing the Pope says would get him PPR'd as long as he flew under the radar for the first 100 posts.

(50,566 posts)People get banned if they say they don't support gay marriage. But if you say you are against a woman's right to have an abortion, you won't be banned.
Go figure.

(49,533 posts)DU is a great place. I get exposed to many viewpoints, including those of people who are considered basically homeless. Can't help but feel for them and their rough lifestyle.

(725 posts)I would like to dress like he does, and talk about people having sex only to have babies.
Who is Pope Frank's tailor? I need some new dresses and head gear.
Can I order it on-line from Amazon?
Pope: you are a fasion statement, just like all those that came before you.
To misquote My Fair Lady:
"it doesn't actually matter what the Pope says, as long as he is dressed well"

At least for something other making a sock to get around a suspension? I am not certain you can since they added the 90 day rule.If things were the way they were prior to that his comments on LGBTQ people would have earned him a tombstone fairly quickly...but being as popular as he is they would probably reinstate him like another DU celebrity I won't name.

(18,219 posts)at least not with anything we know that he has had so far. I agree with the comment about it depends on who he knows, and hey, he is the pope. But he also will have to make it past 100 posts, or a few days, before he gets into anything controversial. I suggest that he wet his feet in the Lounge before hitting the forums.
