Reddit gives to lefty charities, including FFRF

Yes! I didn't know that Reddit was (apparently) full of left-leaners. I have never joined the site and don't know much about it. Anyone here on Reddit and if so, can you give me a Cliff notes on it and perhaps some usage tips?

Reddit users voted to give 10% of its ad revenue (some $8.2 million) to 10 different charities chosen by its users.

They are:
Planned Parenthood
Doctors Without Borders
Freedom From Religion Foundation (yea!!)
NPR
Electronic Frontier Foundation
Wikimedia Foundation
Multidisciplinary Assn for Psychedelic Studies
Erowid Center
Tor Project Inc.
Free Software Foundation

I see that Newsbusters did a story on it here. (Newsbusters tagline is "Exposing and Combating Liberal Media Bias" the poor fools). The article is naturally, therefore, sprinkled with disdain and disgust for the 10 recipients, so it makes me happy to see them pissed.

What I don't understand is why all of the many billionaires don't give millions away to some of these organizations? Who better? Who's got the money? Why is it left to us, the peons, the poorer citizens, to support good causes?

Begins to make up for a lot of the teenage boy mentality that sadly permeates so many subreddits.

I mostly look at the forums for my phone because they seem to have good info on a regular basis.

But hey, if they are doing something that gets newsbusters knickers all knotted up I'm all for it.
