I'm confused. I thought it was supposed to be the New Atheists who are bigoted against Muslims.

http://www.ibtimes.com/vatican-synod-2015-catholic-women-shouldnt-marry-muslims-priest-argues-2152303

An Egyptian priest doesn't think marriages between Christian women and Muslim men is a good idea, and he wants Roman Catholic leaders to discourage it. During the Synod of Bishops on the family, the priest said that such marriages cause a serious crisis for the married couples and their children, according to the Catholic Herald.

Garas Boulos Garas Bishay, a priest at the Mary Queen of Peace Parish in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, said he is profoundly concerned when Russian and European women marry Muslim men, arguing that the allowance of polygamy in Islam can negatively impact the children they raise. He asked church leaders what they could do to help families with Muslim husbands and Christian wives, in which he argued the wives are sometimes deceived and abused. He also said that the children of these families are often disoriented.

with the issue of interreligious marriage, right?? The poor guy. And according to one of the most condescending posters in here, that automatically means he's NOT a bigot. But Harris and Dawkins are, because..ummm...well, they just ARE!

Right Captain?

one has to hope that any Catholic woman who marries a, let's say, devout Muslim is well aware of how her life could change as a result of the marriage. If she chooses to go ahead, no one should stop her.

I wonder if she should likewise be informed that, were she to marry a Catholic man instead, many Catholic priests have been known to abuse young children?

Scheming young gigolos freely available to both men and women. That can't be news to the priest. Anybody with an unbroken Google can find out all about it.

Sharm is a resort town and its rules apply to all the other similar places in Egypt - there aren't any rules, pretty much. When I lived in Egypt I got several entertaining earfuls about this.

Young Egyptian men sell themselves to older Western guys, secure in the knowledge that Allah will forgive them as long as they are the "giver" and not the "receiver" in the relationship. Otherwise they'd be gay, which Allah wouldn't forgive.

And the Internet is awash in stories of Western women who fell in love under the Egyptian stars and woke up seriously swindled out of everything they owned.
