Creationist Ken Ham Blames Atheists For Ark Park Failure

Sad monkey: A bitter Ken Ham blames atheists and the secular media for the perceived financial failure of his Ark Park.

In a recent blog post to his Answers in Genesis website, leading creationist Ken Ham laments the supposed power of atheists and the “secularist media,” complaining that they are damaging the reputation of his Ark Encounter, and the economy of the surrounding local businesses, writing:

Recently, a number of articles in the mainstream media, on blogs, and on well-known secularist group websites have attempted to spread propaganda to brainwash the public into thinking our Ark Encounter attraction is a dismal failure. Sadly, they (atheists and the secular media) are influencing business investors and others in such a negative way that they may prevent Grant County, Kentucky, from achieving the economic recovery that its officials and residents have been seeking.

In other words, Ken Ham blames atheists for his trouble. Ham is refusing to take responsibility for his own failure, and refusing to take responsibility for his broken promises to the citizens and business community of Grant County, Kentucky.

The "personal responsibility" gene is missing from so many of the right wing.

where the personal responsibility is always on someone else. Scientists theorize that the mutant gene evolved early in human history as a defense against predators. When a predator was nearby, instead of warning the entire group, carriers of the mutant version would push another member of the group in front of the predator.

I guess my refusal to go there helped take him down.
Yet there are probably 10,000 or more amusement parks I won't attend this year that will stay in business.

How about opening a Maharishi Flying School? It will be the next hot thing for believers!

Ken Ham’s Buddy: Evangelicals Are Avoiding Disney World Because It’s Too Gay
June 16, 2017 by Hemant Mehta

In a bizarre guest column written by conservative activist C. Britt Beemer for the Orlando Sentinel, the America’s Research Group founder offers a reason for why Disney attractions in Florida are seeing a drop in attendance: They’re too gay-friendly.

By doing things like hoisting rainbow flags and showing solidarity with the LGBTQ community, Beemer says, Disney is making it known that they oppose traditional Christian beliefs, and evangelicals are now searching for new vacation destinations.

Quote:

… what I do find is genuine concern about how children might be influenced by the pro-gay/lesbian movement in Orlando.

…“United Orlando” or “Love Orlando,” with the gay flag in the background, might make some feel good. For evangelical Christians planning family vacations, however, that image is a real turn-off.

Beemer adds that he knows what he’s talking about. His organization is in the business of understanding these trends. He even cites his success at predicting the Creation Museum’s first-year attendance numbers to remarkable accuracy.

Quote:

For 30 years, as a consumer trends and research expert, I have surveyed more than 12 million Americans. I’ve helped more than a thousand businesses achieve their goals and overcome financial challenges.

In the past five years, I’ve surveyed nearly half a million Christians for more than a dozen clients, among them the Creation Museum in the Cincinnati area and The Ark Encounter in northern Kentucky.

I forecast 400,000 Americans would visit the Creation Museum in its first year. I was on target: The final number was 404,000. I would say a 1 percent differential is extraordinary.

In all fairness, the Orlando Sentinel posted this poignant video:
