Can we all now admit that moments of prayer dont do jack shit? Period.

Prayer - it’s not just for having no effect stemming gun violence anymore. It’s worthless no matter what is being prayed about/for.

Self-aggrandizing navel gazing.

It gives people a great excuse for doing nothing. It gives people a false sense of security. And it gives people a way to blame the victim (i.e., because they didn’t pray hard enough).

Now if you said that it doesn’t do anything positive, I’d wholeheartedly agree!

They give the pious a ready excuse for not doing anything that' actually meaningful. For the one doing the praying, it soothes their conscience at no cost. A spiritual placebo for feelings of guilt.

They aren't even talking to their deity, they first tell god what his book says, then they tell god what the book means and what god's suposed to think, then they preach to the other participants some kind of crap they want them to do, be, or act like. It always gets me how they tell god his own scripture like he can't remember it.
