Michelle: Joe is guided by faith...will listen to science

I love Michelle O as much as anyone, but I look forward to the day when bromides like “guided by faith (ie: make believe)” are no longer seen as a positive for a political candidate.

1. I don't mind it

I think it means "has a strong moral belief that guides his action."
I don't care if that system is secular humanism (like me), Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, etc.

8. That's the problem...

That faith in god is somehow necessary for a strong moral belief to guide one's actions. Which implies that those of us without a faith in god don't have that guide.

2. People can interpret that phrase in a number of ways.

You can have faith in things secular, too. Such as faith in science. Faith in the goodness of most people.

6. Not really.

They aren't equivocating here. They are highlighting Biden's religion because they trying to pitch his candidacy to religious voters.

7. It sounded, to me, like a pitch to rational people, whether they be religious or secular

But that's just my interpretation. Religious people are an outreach group, too.

3. I

agree. To me, it's pandering. With the social changes we are undergoing, I'm gaining confidence that I might live to see the day when these things are things of the past.

4. It depends on which faith

And unspoken is that Biden's faith is Catholicism, a branch of Christianity. I guess Joe's "faith" is "better" than Trump's, which is just one hypocrisy piled on top of another.

Morons these days are guided by their faith in the QAnon BS.

Do I need to say that, in just another in the long, long list of people guided by their faith to commit atrocities, in 2001, a bunch of Islamic fanatics, guided by their faith, flew jet planes full of innocent passengers into buildings filled with people.

But I totally agree.
